FAQ
Why should we screen for STDs?
If untreated, STDs can cause a whole host of severe health problems, which is why it’s crucial to be tested regularly. Do you only get tested for STDs when you have a new partner?
Unfortunately, due to the stigma around STIs and STDs, many go untreated for a long time due to a delay in diagnosis, which can lead to infertility problems, cancer, blindness and organ damage.
Most common STD symptoms
Penis owners might experience burning sensation with urination, discharge from the penis opening, pelvic or testicular pain.
Vulva owners might experience increased vaginal discharge or foul smelling discharge abnormal menstrual bleeding particularly prolonged bleeding or bleeding after sex and mid cycle.
Other symptoms might include new ulceration or blisters on the genital skin, rash particular over the palms and soles of feet.
If you have such symptoms, it is imperative that you get tested and treated for STDs as soon as possible. There is no need to wait for specific window periods for testing as you are already symptomatic.
